Texas has mowed down the competition ahead of them, but has yet to face a team on the level of the Bulldogs — who boast one of the best Blue Chip Ratios in college football. Conversely, the Longhorns are head-and-shoulders above what UGA has seen so far this year, setting up the titanic matchup.

  • October 1, 2024 – Texas takes care of Mississippi State
by The Longhorn Republic on October 1, 2024 at 12:30 pm

Despite some inconsistent play, the No. 2 Texas Longhorns opened SEC play with a convincing win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The matchup with the Bulldogs exposed a lot of what Texas needs to focus on in the bye week with the Sooners on the horizon. Defensively, Texas showed some uncharacteristic struggles against the run with the Bulldogs trying to stretch the defense and then attack the middle. Offensively, the Longhorns saw more than 100 yards lost or negated thanks to injury, as well as losing two fumbles in the contest. That level of inconsistency will cost Texas wins deeper into SEC play.
