Your weekly Northwestern Sports podcast – bringing visceral and statistical analysis since 2010. We tailgate under the Red Pirate Flag because the West Lot Pirates give no quarter, especially the fourth. The West Lot Pirates are the premier Northwestern athletics podcast. We are three die-hard NU fans who have known each other and attended games together for more than 25 years. We primarily cover Northwestern Football but have a great love for all things NU and cover Mens & Womens Basketball, Lacrosse, Softball, and other sports in-depth throughout the year.

    Softball and Lacrosse have both begun their seasons with an impressive start. Softball went down to Florida and game back with an impressive win over #8 Duke and a 3-2 record. Lacrosse started off strong with convincing wins over Notre Dame and Canisius.

    Over the past two weeks, the Cats found themselves in two overtime situations, one positive, one negative and finished off with a great win over Indiana. Tonight, we look back at Nicky Buckets’ game winning shot, Jalen Leach’s ridiculous ejection and the Ty Berry 3 point show. We can also close the book on the 2024 college football season as Ohio State took home the National Championship.

    It was a rough week for the Men’s Basketball team. After a real physical game at Penn State where the free throw differential was immense, the Cats went down to West Lafayette where they ran into a Purdue squad shooting the lights out. On the bright side, we continue to see incredible returns from the Football transfer portal with some former Jackrabbits coming to Evanston to play for Zach Lujan again.
