Not the result Illini fans wanted… but this run meant something.
Illinois came up short in the Final Four, and the story was simple — missed shots, missed opportunities, and just not enough in the biggest moments. When you hold a team close but can’t get that one stop, that one rebound, or that one big shot… it catches up to you.
Still, this team gave us a season to remember.
A Final Four appearance. A banner going up in the State Farm Center. And one of the greatest individual seasons we’ve ever seen from Keaton Wagler.
And the future? It’s bright.
With a strong core potentially returning — Mirkovic, Stojakovic, Visek, and more — plus incoming talent like Quentin Coleman, Illinois isn’t going anywhere. This experience could be the fuel that brings them right back… and maybe finishes the job next time.
Be disappointed. That’s fair.
But don’t lose sight of what this team accomplished — and what’s coming next.
