The Big 12 conference is gearing up to welcome four new universities in 2024. Despite losing two notable schools to the SEC, Texas and Oklahoma, the conference is excited to greet former Pac-12 member Colorado, along with new members Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah. Let’s take a closer look at how these fresh faces fit into their new home along with their 2024 schedules:
Arizona Wildcats
The Wildcats had an impressive turnaround in the 2023 season, finishing with a 10-3 record after a slow start. They’ll be led by new head coach Brent Brennan, who previously coached at San Jose State. Quarterback Noah Fifita and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, both standouts from last season, will be back to continue their success. Can Brennan maintain the Wildcats’ momentum as they transition to a new conference?
Utah Utes
Utah faced quarterback challenges in 2023 due to injuries, but star player Cam Rising is set to return for his seventh college football season in 2024. Despite a record of 8-5 last season, Utah boasted a strong defense. How will Rising perform after his hiatus?
Arizona State Sun Devils
Head coach Kelly Dillingham enters his second season with the Sun Devils after a tough 3-9 season in 2023. With experienced quarterbacks Trenton Bourguet and Jaden Rashada in the mix, Arizona State aims to bounce back. Who will emerge as the starting quarterback for the Sun Devils in 2024?
Colorado Buffaloes
Returning to the Big 12 after leaving in 2010, the Buffaloes, led by head coach Deion Sanders, seek redemption after a disappointing 4-8 season in 2023. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders faced constant pressure, being sacked a nation-leading 52 times, while the defense struggled, allowing an average of 34.8 points per game. However, with the addition of talented transfers and the potential of players like Travis Hunter, the Buffaloes are optimistic about their prospects in the Big 12.
